We are fully immersed in an era of globalization; an era which requires us to seek innovative solutions to age old problems like human trafficking/modern day slavery. As a social phenomenon and problem, trafficking/slavery is by its very nature, complex. Globalization and the subsequent inter-connectedness of the local-to the regional-to the national-to the international-to the global has compounded the complexity not only of the act of trafficking/slavery itself, but also of any work towards its eradication.
Through its multi-stakeholder, multi and cross-sectoral, systems-level, and network-oriented approach, iScale is working with Humanity United to scale the impact of organizations who are working to end trafficking/slavery in this increasingly global age. By clearly identifying the roles and relationships among both usual and unusual stakeholders in the field and by engaging key actors in strategic dialogue iScale hopes to increase meaningful collaboration and accelerate efforts to eliminate human trafficking/modern day slavery.
In an initial step to facilitate richer connectivity among actors, iScale is leading the Human Trafficking/Modern Day Slavery Mapping Project. The mapping project uses a series of network analysis tools and action research techniques to identify gaps, strengthen capacity, and facilitate strategic action to eliminate human trafficking/modern day slavery.
